MEROOGAL WOMEN'S ART PRIZE

February 5th until the 28th March

In celebration of all women artists the Meroogal Women's Arts prize will be on display at the Lady Denman complex in Huskisson for the first time. Many of the contributing artists are from the Shoalhaven, Illawarra and Bega areas. This travelling exhibition explores the theme of "Books and the world of ideas". Meroogal is an historic home in Nowra.

WOMEN’S ART AND PICNIC DAY

Monday 1st March 10.00am – 3:00pm

Come along to take part in a combined health/art project. The Women's Health Centre have requested assistance for background art graphics to be used as posters and advertising for the centre incorporating the use of the current logo and the women's colours. The Art Day program will commence with individual projects culminating in a final piece containing elements of the individual works. Materials to be provided, bring lunch to share.

Y QUEST LAUNCH

Launching Y Quest 2010. Y Quest is a leadership program for young women aged 15 – 25 and this years entrants in the program will have an opportunity to introduce themselves to the community.

WOMEN’S PERFORMANCE NIGHT

Friday 5th March 7.00pm until late

This women only event is loads of fun and an excellent opportunity for women to perform for the first time. Meals will be available to purchase, come at 6pm to eat and mingle and BYO drinks. If you wish to sing, dance, read poetry, fire twirl or entertain in any way call Sandra.

THE SEX DISCRIMINATION ACT - REFLECTIONS AFTER 26 YEARS. (IWD BREAKFAST)

Chris Ronalds SC is a Sydney barrister, specialising in Discrimination law, employment law and administrative law. In that role, she appeared in many landmark cases and has assisted a number of employers in addressing discrimination and harassment issues within the workforce. She is an accredited mediator and arbitrator and has written the Report of the Inquiry into sexual harassment and sex discrimination in the NSW Police -2007, and "Discrimination Law and Practice"- 2008. Chris received an OA in 1994 for her services to women. Come along to hear Chris, share breakfast and learn more about Discrimination law.

PATHWAYS TO PROSPERITY

To celebrate this Year's International Women's day theme of "Women fighting poverty", the local "Anti-Poverty" committee will be presenting some information about what some local organisations have been doing to fight poverty and will be seeking ideas from participants for future projects.

Come along to be entertained by:- Which Witch, Sarah Firken, the Wand'ring Menstruals, Zumba dancing and D.J Margot. The night will cover social, physical, spiritual, emotional and mental aspects of women's health in a fun way. Light supper provided. Women only event.
